Covry is an inclusive eyewear company focused on creating frames that fit every kind of face. It was founded by former fashion industry veterans, Athina Wang and Florence Shin. From their website:

"Frustrated by the lack of comfortable options for diverse face shapes, they teamed up to create an innovative approach to fit and design. Together, they built Covry to embrace diversity and celebrate faces of all different shapes and sizes."

Their flagship store is located in Costa Mesa, CA. To engage their community across the country, they planned a small pop-up tour with weekend-long stops in New York and Seattle. We had the pleasure of curating the grazing experience as guests tried on glasses, enjoyed the photobooth, and listened to soothing guitar tunes.

The Reception Menu

We asked Athina about a theme or preferred colorways for the grazing experience. She told us, "light blue, butter yellow, and beige." We got in touch with our friends at Farm. One, an edible flower farm in Brooklyn. They were able to grow yellow oxalis, blue borage, and bachelor button flowers for us.

The triple-creme brie cheese was already buttery yellow on account of its high butterfat percentage. We sourced white sharp cheddar, cut it with a wavy knife, and dipped each piece in turmeric for a deep orange-yellow color. For blue, we took fresh chevre and mixed it with a few drops of teal plant-based food coloring and blue butterfly tea powder. We shaped it into bite-sized crottin, perfect for spreading onto crackers. The biggest hit of the night was our homemade black pepper and MSG focaccia. We baked it fresh that morning and sliced it into batons for easy snacking.

The leadership and vendors were all Asian (an amazing detail). We also wanted to feature Asian elements with tropical yellow kiwis, yellow melon, scallion crackers, and yuzu marmalade.

We did not bake the iconic baby blue cake, but wanted to highlight Nazli & Co, a boutique special occasion baker focused on South-Asian flavors. The "early bloomer" is Earl Grey cake, strawberry lychee citrus jam, vanilla bean diplomat, toasted milk crunch, and vanilla custard buttercream. It was floral, fragrant, tropical, and, above all, a stunning display.

A Party Tip

One way to commemorate a meaningful event is to book musicians. It doesn't need to be a full band, but a simple guitar and vocalist can elevate your event. Each artist has different offerings, but before you inquire, you should know how much time or how many sets you need for the duration of the party. Think about moments that will need accompaniment, like walking down an aisle, or to kick off dinner time.

Nicolas and Jinnie played a short acoustic set after a speech from Covry's founders to celebrate their New York pop-up and 10-year anniversary. If you need musicians for your event, we have a list of recommendations on our Vendors page.

We are also part of Covry's referral program. If you'd like $15 off your first order, click here. We receive a commission if you click on this link.
